Education and Outreach
2007 Accomplishments
NRCS is committed to ensuring that its
programs and services are accessible to all of our customers, fairly and
equitably, with emphasis on reaching the underserved and socially
disadvantaged farmers. We develop our policies and programs to allow
full participation by underserved individuals and groups. All
landowners and operators in Maine are potential customers of NRCS. As
we endeavor to meet their conservation needs, we have a duty to ensure
that they know who NRCS is and what programs we have to offer.
Potential barriers that could prevent our underserved customers from
full participation in agency programs are identified.
Education is the first step towards
conservation of our land and resources. NRCS, therefore, is committed
to educating people of all ages, from our children to senior citizens,
about our natural resources which so many of us take for granted.
NRCS employees in Maine made great
strides in their education and outreach efforts during Fiscal Year 2007,
and will continue to make it a priority for many years to come.
