Expiration Date: September 30, 2008
As part of the NRCS Human Capital campaign, we are seeking volunteers to
receive advanced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) training. GIS is a mission

of GIS. Individuals selected will work with Ray Voyer, GIS Specialist, on
various projects that utilize GIS throughout the year. Anticipated topics
include:
• USDA Spatial Library Management
• Maintenance/Enhancement of Project Files for Customer Service Toolkit
• Applications of Digital Elevation Models and Derivative Products
• Integration of the several data models (Shape File, GRID, DEM, Geodatabase)
into Natural Resources Analysis.
• Testing, deployment, and training of third party utilities for example
(Watershed Delineation Tools)
Details and design of the training will be determined after the list of
applicants is compiled. It is anticipated that the training will consist of
occasional two to three day blocks of time in the State Office Computer Lab,
which will include lectures, hands on training followed by individual take home
projects. The format will be modified as needed according to the needs of the
participants.
