SUBJECT: CPA – Integrated Pest Management Training for NRCS Employees

Purpose: To announce Integrated Pest Management Training for NRCS employees on July 15, 2008 from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

Expiration Date: July 30, 2008

NRCS employees are encouraged to attend the upcoming Integrated Pest Management Training Session to be held on July 15, 2008, at Thomas Farms in Corinth (Penobscot County). The training will cover IPM principles and practices for vegetables and will include hands-on activities. The new ME-NRCS draft Vegetable IPM Planning spreadsheet will be introduced. We would like to have at least one person from each field office attend. Supervisor approval is required for attendance and/or travel.

This training is being provided through a grant received by the Maine Department of Agriculture. Additional presenters/co-sponsors include UME Extension and Lauchlin Titus. Lunch will be provided at no cost. Pre-registration is required to Alice Begin at 207-990-9558 or email alice.begin@me.usda.gov by June 20, 2008. See attached Agenda. Directions to Thomas Farms will be forthcoming.

State of Maine CEUs:
Pesticide Applicator 4 CEUs (NRCS planners are no longer required to maintain this license).

Certified Crop Advisers CEUs:
Numbers to be determined.
